A campaign pacing sheet shows whether spend is moving ahead of or behind the plan while there is still time to act. It should connect daily cost with target demand and business capacity, not just divide a monthly budget by days.
Decision framework
| Decision | Practical check |
|---|---|
| Set the period | Record budget, start/end date and any planned high-demand days. |
| Import actual spend | Use daily Google Ads cost and keep account timezone consistent. |
| Project the finish | Compare current pace and forecast remaining spend with the monthly cap. |
| Explain variance | Mark promotions, holidays, stock constraints and intentional changes. |
How to use the result
Pacing should trigger a decision, not a reflexive cut. Add the expected seasonal or promotion allocation before calculating variance, then look at product availability and conversion lag. A weekly owner review can decide whether to move spend between campaigns, hold a temporary spike or reduce a cap. Keep the worksheet linked to actual account cost and note any manual adjustments.
Worked example
Illustrative UAE ecommerce account: monthly media cap is AED 30,000. After ten of 30 days, spend is AED 12,000. A straight-line pace projects AED 36,000, but a weekend promotion may explain part of the front loading. The manager decides whether to reduce bids or keep the promotion allocation.
What can change the decision
A pacing sheet is not a ROAS forecast. Conversion lag, shared budgets and platform spend rules can make daily lines uneven.
Review checklist
Reconcile the sheet total with the Google Ads account for the same dates and timezone. Show actual cost, planned cost, variance, forecast and owner action.
Common question
Is equal daily pacing always best?
No. Allocate around demand, promotions and inventory, while keeping the overall cap visible.
