A page can look complete in a visitor’s browser while its important text or links are absent from the HTML Google renders. Compare the initial response, rendered page and URL Inspection output before blaming JavaScript as a whole.
Work through the decision
Use a small, dated sample before applying the method across a whole site or team. Record the exact input and intended outcome so another reviewer can reproduce the decision. The example below illustrates the method; it is not a claimed Megvi client result.
| Step | Practical check |
|---|---|
| Pick critical elements | Identify the heading, product details, links and canonical that search engines must find. |
| Inspect the initial HTML | Record which elements are present before client-side code runs. |
| Compare the rendered state | Use Search Console live test and a normal browser to spot blocked resources, errors or delayed content. |
| Fix the smallest failure | Expose essential text and crawlable links reliably; retest the exact URL and template. |
Worked example
Illustrative catalog: the server sends a blank product grid shell; a script fetches cards after a user click. The live test shows no product links, so the team makes category links present in the rendered HTML and checks the click path again. A second page already renders the product details correctly; it does not need a rebuild merely because it uses JavaScript.
When this approach can fail
A successful live test is a snapshot, not proof that Google has indexed the page. JavaScript rendering can fail for reasons unrelated to the framework choice.
Verification checklist
For three representative URLs, record initial HTML, rendered text, crawlable hrefs, canonical, blocked resources and the exact difference to repair.
Next step
A blank rendered page can produce an error-like signal; diagnose it with How to Investigate Soft 404s on Service and Content Pages. To apply this to a live business, review Megvi’s SEO services and bring the current page, report or workflow plus the result you want to verify.
