Localization quality assurance asks whether a local buyer can understand and act on a page. Accurate translation is only one part: price, delivery, terminology, form fields and proof must match the market. Review the page as a complete journey rather than approving isolated strings.
Decision checklist
| Step | Practical check |
|---|---|
| Define the market | Record audience, language variant, offer and service limits. |
| Review meaning | Have a qualified reviewer check terminology and claims in context. |
| Test the journey | Follow the CTA, form, payment and support path on a phone. |
| Verify search signals | Check title, canonical, locale links and the intended query purpose. |
How to apply it
Use a side-by-side QA sheet with source URL, localized URL, key claim, buyer task, reviewer, issue severity and correction. Separate a spelling preference from a false availability claim. Ask the market owner to approve pricing, returns and regulatory statements; a translator should not have to infer them. Capture a screenshot of the final mobile page and one completed test enquiry or checkout. Recheck after the source page changes so the localized version does not age unnoticed.
Worked example
Illustrative UAE firm opens a Saudi Arabic service page. Translation reads naturally, but the CTA still sends enquiries to a UAE-only form and the page promises a turnaround the Saudi team cannot meet. QA records both as launch blockers. The team supplies a Saudi contact route and approved delivery window before testing the page again. This is an illustrative checklist exercise.
Limits to keep in mind
Hreflang cannot make a misleading or incomplete local page useful. Country-specific legal and tax claims need review by the responsible business owner or adviser.
Review checklist
- Can a local visitor complete the promised action?
- Are commercial claims approved for that market?
- Does the published URL match its annotation and canonical?
Common question
Is native-language review enough?
No. It checks language; operations, conversion and search signals require their own owners.
