Which UAE business directories should you use? Start with the profiles your customers actually consult, then add a small number of relevant UAE or industry directories that let you publish accurate details and manage corrections. A long submission list is not a local SEO strategy. The right shortlist depends on your customers, location, business type and ability to keep each listing current.
This guide gives UAE business owners a way to choose listings, compares five starting options, and shows a worked decision log. It complements our broader local SEO strategy guide, which covers your website, Business Profile, reviews and measurement.
Start with the job a listing should do
A listing can help a customer find your location, confirm your hours, compare providers or contact you. It may also create a public mention of your business. Those are different jobs. Before signing up, write down which job matters for this particular platform and how you will check whether it happened.
For example, a Dubai air-conditioning company that visits customers needs accurate service-area and contact information. A retailer with a showroom also needs directions and opening hours. A B2B supplier may get more value from a relevant trade directory than from a general listing with no suitable category. An online-only business should check each platform’s eligibility rules rather than inventing a storefront address.
Five listing options to evaluate in the UAE
These are candidates to assess, not a ranking or a recommendation to buy a placement. Features, eligibility and prices can change. We checked the provider pages on 19 October 2026.
| Platform | When to consider it | Check before proceeding |
|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile | Your eligible business meets customers in person at a storefront or visits them in its service area. | Google’s eligibility and ownership rules. Online-only businesses and lead-generation businesses are generally ineligible; do not create a virtual office listing. |
| Apple Business Connect | Your customers may use Apple Maps and you can maintain a useful place card. | Whether the location and available actions match the way customers reach you. Apple describes Business Connect as a free management tool. |
| Bing Places for Business | You want to claim or correct how your business appears on Bing. | Whether a listing already exists and whether you can complete verification and keep the details current. Bing says adding a business is free. |
| BizList.ae | Its UAE industry and emirate categories fit your offer, and a direct contact profile would help a buyer. | Find your category and inspect an existing listing. The site currently advertises a free UAE profile; verify the current terms when submitting. |
| Yello UAE | You find relevant customer searches or competitors in its UAE categories and can justify a paid placement. | Search for an existing listing first. New registrations currently use paid plans, so compare the cost with likely customer value and confirm current terms. |
Google, Apple and Bing are map or search business profiles; BizList and Yello are UAE directories. The distinction matters because a business may need to correct an existing map profile before spending time on extra directories. Google’s spam policy lists low-quality directory links among link-spam examples. Do not buy bulk submissions for a promised ranking boost.
Use a ten-point directory selection check
The following score is a planning device created for this guide, not a measured ranking factor. First reject any site that requires false business details, has no way to correct an entry, or conflicts with the platform’s rules. Score the remaining candidates:
- Customer and category fit, 0–3: Can a real buyer search for your service in the right emirate and find comparable businesses?
- Profile control, 0–2: Can an authorized owner claim, edit and remove or correct the listing?
- Useful information, 0–2: Can the profile show an accurate business name, location or service area, hours, website and contact route?
- Cost and maintenance, 0–2: Is the fee and ongoing effort reasonable for the likely customer task?
- Duplicate risk, 0–1: Have you checked whether the business is already listed under its current or former name?
A high score means the listing is worth a closer look. It does not predict traffic, rankings or leads. Keep a record of why each platform passed or failed, who owns the profile, and the next review date.
Worked example: a Dubai service business
Illustrative example, not a Megvi client result. Imagine a licensed air-conditioning maintenance business based in Dubai. Its staff travel to customers; customers do not visit its office. Its website has a contact page with a real phone number and service areas. The owner can manage the profiles personally.
Input: The business wants customers to verify its service area, call directly, and avoid an old phone number that still appears online. The team has time to maintain four profiles, not forty.
Decision log:
- Google Business Profile — investigate first. The business may qualify as a service-area business because it visits customers. The owner must confirm eligibility, claim any existing profile and hide its address if customers are not served there, following Google’s representation guidelines.
- Apple Business Connect and Bing Places — check next. Search the company name and old phone number on each map surface. Claim or correct an existing record before creating another one. Prioritize whichever surface shows an incorrect customer-facing result.
- BizList.ae — possible fourth profile. Check that its category and emirate pages include comparable services and that the owner can show the correct contact route. The free profile is attractive only if the listing is relevant and maintainable.
- Yello UAE — defer pending evidence. Because a new listing currently has a fee, inspect whether relevant businesses appear in the category and whether the business can measure enquiries from this placement. Do not pay simply because the site offers a link.
Failure case: If the business finds two Google entries, publishing a third is the wrong next move. Resolve the duplicate and correct the old number first. The same principle applies to directories: a duplicate or wrong contact detail can confuse a customer even when the page is indexed.
Reviewer correction: The first version of this example treated every listing as a link-building opportunity. The corrected decision starts with customer access, eligibility and accuracy. A backlink is not the acceptance test.
Prepare one verified source of business details
Before submitting anything, have the owner approve a short master record: trading name, actual address or service area, primary phone, website URL, business hours, core service description, category, logo and one account email. Keep the real-world name consistent; do not append search keywords to the name. For a service-area business, do not publish a private address where the platform says to hide it.
Search each candidate site for the current name, an old name, phone number and domain. Record the existing profile URL, owner access, fields to fix and date checked. When a platform offers verification, use the owner’s authorized account. This gives the business a way to update the listing after a move, phone change or holiday-hours change.
How to tell whether the shortlist helped
After a listing is approved, test it as a customer would: search the business and category, open the public profile, call the displayed number, click the website and confirm the map pin or service area. Keep a simple log of direct enquiries that mention the platform. Where allowed, use a tagged website link to distinguish referral visits in analytics; avoid changing the public phone number merely to manufacture attribution.
Recheck the public profiles after 28 and 90 days. Record accuracy, profile views or clicks if the provider offers them, referral visits, and verified enquiries separately. A directory can be worth maintaining because customers use it to confirm contact details even when it sends little website traffic. Remove or correct misleading entries and stop paying for placements with no clear customer purpose.
When to get help
If you have many locations, old phone numbers, duplicate profiles or a service-area question, start with an inventory of existing entries rather than another submission campaign. Megvi can review the business details, the website’s local pages and the next useful fixes as part of its local SEO service. Bring your approved business details, current listing URLs and any enquiry records to that conversation.
Frequently asked questions
How many UAE business directories should I join?
There is no useful universal number. Start with the customer-facing profiles you can verify and maintain, then add directories whose category, region and contact options serve a real buyer task.
Are paid UAE directory listings worth it?
Sometimes, if relevant customers use the directory and the expected value justifies the cost. Inspect the category, current listings, fees and cancellation terms. Do not pay solely for a promised SEO benefit.
Should an online-only business create a Google Business Profile?
Google says businesses must make in-person contact with customers during stated hours to qualify, with limited exceptions. An online-only business should check the current eligibility policy and should not invent a physical location.
What should I fix first if my business appears twice?
Document both public URLs and identify which profile the owner controls. Use that platform’s support or ownership process to correct the duplicate before creating another entry.
