Your meta description will appear here as you type. Explain what visitors will find on this page.
Approximate preview. Google can choose a different title or snippet based on your page and the search query.
Width measurements use Arial and this preview’s available space. They are writing guidance, not Google character limits.
On smaller screens, the desktop view also shrinks to fit your device.
Preview runs in your browser. Copy your finished text into your SEO plugin or page settings.

Write a search listing that describes your page
A useful SEO title tells people what a page contains. A meta description adds a short, relevant summary. Write for the person searching and make sure your wording matches the content they will find after clicking.
- Be specific. Name the service, product or answer the page offers.
- Put the main topic early. Help readers understand the page before text is clipped.
- Use natural wording. Include relevant phrases when they fit; avoid repeating keywords.
- Make each page distinct. Give individual pages their own title and description.
- Keep claims accurate. Mention a price, location or free offer only when it is true for that page.
There is no universal character cutoff. Display space varies, and Google may choose different text from your page. Our tool estimates the appearance of the wording you enter; it does not fetch a URL, inspect your website or predict rankings.
For the underlying guidance, read Google Search Central’s documentation on title links and search snippets.
Frequently asked questions
Is this SEO title and meta description preview free?
Yes. You can preview your text, compare desktop and mobile layouts, check approximate text width and copy your metadata without a paid subscription or signup.
Will Google show exactly the title and description in this preview?
No. The preview is an estimate. Google creates title links and snippets automatically and may use other page content. The wording shown can also change with the search query and available display space.
How long should an SEO title or meta description be?
Use enough text to describe the page clearly and concisely. Google does not prescribe a fixed character limit for either field; results can be clipped to fit the device. Our character counts and width estimates are writing guidance for this preview, not official limits.
Why does text width matter as well as character count?
Characters occupy different amounts of space. For example, a W is wider than an i in many fonts. The same character count can therefore wrap differently. Our width check uses Arial and the available preview space, so it remains approximate.
Does this tool check my live website or generate text with AI?
No. It previews and checks the text you enter in your browser. It does not fetch the page, run an SEO audit or generate titles and descriptions with AI.
What does the optional target phrase check do?
It checks whether your exact phrase appears in the title and description, ignoring letter case. It does not measure relevance, semantic variations or search rankings. Use natural wording that accurately describes your page.
How do I add this metadata to WordPress?
Copy your finished title and description into the page’s SEO plugin fields, such as Rank Math. Save the page and check its front-end metadata. The HTML copy option is for a page’s head section; pasting it into normal visible page content is not the same as setting SEO metadata.
